The Balvenie The Week of Peat 14 years old tells the story of Master Blender David Stewart MBE and former distillery manager Ian Millar. They took advantage of a week's break in the distillery's production to experiment with using peated malt in the barley drying process, using samples of various ages collected since 2002. The result is a classic expression of The Balvenie, sprinkled with aromas of honey, vanilla, and lemon notes, under a delicate smokiness. First Fill Bourbon, Refill Bourbon & Sherry casks.
NOSE: Elegant peat smoke with floral, caramelized, and honeyed notes. Intense smoke, citrus/lemons.
PALATE: Round and velvety, revealing a nice balance between smoky and peaty flavors, citrus scents, woody vanilla, and cherry blossom honey.
FINISH: Subtly smoky, leading to lingering notes of vanilla cream.
